Shore of Hope supports the needs of the Russian orphans and children, deprived of parental care, in the orphanages and shelters in Far East Russia. |
What do we need more in life than love, caresses, care, attention and kindness - this is what an unloved child’s heart searches for. Now, out the window, it is wintertime. Snow is falling. Quietly it lies on our shoulders as we walk. A boy wakes up at home, to a warm bed and happy smiles. Mama is cooking breakfast and to his room comes the delicious aroma of something frying . . . I know, unfortunately, that very often this is only a dream or a wish to a child from an orphanage. I would like to tell you one story, which was told to me by a child from an orphanage. We’ll call him Vanya. Listening to the boy, I cried. The story was sincere and touching. Here it is - I have called it: A Winter Love Story |

Nikita is home from the hospital |
Nikita is home from the hospital and wants to say thank you to everyone who helped secure the finances for his surgery and medical treatments. This is the first of two surgeries Nikita will have. The second surgery is schedule for early this summer and doctors expect Nikita to make a full recovery. The members of the Shore of Hope organization in both the US and Russia would like to express our special thanks to an anonymous donor, who without their help Nikita's treatments would not have been possible. Dear Friends: The photos here are from the Shore of Hope Christmas celebration at our orphanages with the birth of Jesus story and of course a gift package of sweets for every child. For many of the new children this was their first present in their life. We thank our Russian team, Vicki and Kostiya for creating the party for the children and all of you whose generous contributions made this possible.

Basic medical supplies for the orphanage doctors and nurses are always at a critical shortage. In September 2007 we started a new project providing some of the most needed items; such as vitamins, allergy and cough syrups, Tylenol, bandages and anti-bacterial ointments. |

All of the children at the Mirnoe, Karsokova and Topolevo orphanages received new shoes in June. In July the remaining orphages received. This year delivered 500 pairs of shoes. We would like to send a special thanks to some of our sponsors, INCAT, AAA of Michigan and the Lansing Michigan Russian School. |
